Selam brings experience from working on product and process development with a number of organisations including not-for-profits, consultancies and tech startups. She has worked as an innovation consultant in London, developing transformation programmes for corporates and supported early-stage businesses in Ghana with prototyping.

In 2018, Selam lead the Digital Blacksmiths workshop in Kenya. In this role, she managed a small team manufacturing 3D-printed microscopes from recycled plastic which were tested in low-income schools in Nairobi.

At ThinkPlace, Selam has worked with Big Win Philanthropy in Ethiopia rolling-out social innovation labs to tackle issues at hyper-local levels. She’s also acted as a Producer supporting strategy, operations and reporting for larger ThinkPlace projects.

Selam is a Sociology graduate from the University of Warwick. She is passionate about the impact design and behaviour change can have in the private sector and the development public services across Africa.

A British-born Eritrean, Selam grew up speaking Tigrinya and English and is currently based in Nairobi.
